Introducing 2013: Iceland!

I have decided to take a look at each entry this year, in a lead-up to the contest! There are 39 countries participating this year, all aiming to win in Malmo (well, some don't wanna win!) Turkey, Portugal, Slovakia and Bosnia & Herzegovina decided to withdraw this year, which was a shame, so lets hope they'll decide to return for 2014! I have drawn all the countries randomly and today it's Iceland's turn...

Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson - Ég á Líf!

Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins was a tough competition this year with two previous ESC representatives competing but Eyþór had all the glory and won! Yohanna didn't even make the final... The finale took place 2nd February, same night as Malta, and many were shocked to see Ég á Líf win - we all expected Birgitta Haukdal to win with Meðal Andanna - which was written by half of Europe. I must admit I'm pleased with the Icelandic entry but I really wanted Magni! Hopefully he will return next year - another awesome artist which keeps trying to make ESC and fails, he joins Claudia Faniello and Electric Fence there! ^^

I don't expect Iceland to make the final, they could qualify with help from the juries but I don't think it'll get many votes from the televote. Oh, and I must say WELL DONE ICELAND for keeping it in Icelandic, the first time in years they have stuck to the native toung. I think the song would be really boring with an English translation - remember their entry last year? Icelandic should be heard more in the contest - in fact so should all Scandinavian languages  Iceland competes in the second semi and will perform after Bulgaria and before Greece - two crazy weird songs which still stand out (even if most of us don't want them too!) The English translation is simply I Have A Life...
Ég á líf, ég á líf yfir erfiðleika svíf Ég á líf, ég á líf vegna þín...
Here's the official video-clip...

The NF performance...

The whole national final, if your up to it...
