WISHLIST 2016: SYLWIA GRZESZCZAK FOR POLAND!

Poland confirmed their presence in Stockholm only yesterday and there's one lady who I'd love to see represent them. The incredibly talented Sylwia Grzeszczak.

She is arguably one of Poland's biggest and most respected musicians. Sylwia has three albums to her name already with the last two been awarded double platinum. They subsequently occupied the 1st and 4th place on the list selling albums in Poland. This girl is big, y'all! I think she would be a fantastic option for Poland next year. Come in TVP, sign her up! Enjoy some of her biggest hits below...

NuVidz: Måns Zelmerlöw, Ruth Lorenzo, Doda, Nadav Guedj!

Måns Zelmerlöw, the reigning king of Eurovision, has released a new single. Listen below:

This blogger is in love. Absolutely stunning! Earlier today, Ruth Lorenzo released the official audio of 99 - her latest track. She plans to release a special edition of Planeta Azul in October. It will will feature collaborations with different artists and songs from Planeta Azul in English. 99 will feature on this album.

Will she? Won't she? This is the question we all had regarding Doda's potential participation in Eurovision 2015. In the end, she didn't represent Poland. Obviously. Next year? Maybe. In the meantime, let's enjoy her latest song...

And finally we have some new music from out Israeli golden boy - Nadav Guedj! Great summer vibes here. Summer is not ever yet :-)

REVIEWING THE CLASS OF 2015: POLAND!

Monika Kuszyńska is hoping to give Poland its first ever Eurovision win. She sings a very emotional song with a beautiful message.. Check out our reviews below.

Ana: This is a more than correct ballad, sung by a more than correct girl. The problem is that correct entries are not enough at Eurovision. It has nothing special, it stays at the same level from the beginning until the end and it’s not memorable at all. This song leaves me absolutely cold. 5/10

Ilkar: This is beautiful, love the piano. She sings well and it sounds like a some world hit from the 80's (in a good way). (This sounds even better in Polish giving it a more authentic touch but unfortunately we won't hear that in Vienna). This sounds like a real song that was born by playing with piano and letting the music come out, instead of sitting down and ”let's write an Eurovision entry now” method. The video is touching when knowing her story. 8/10

Jack: Monika Kuszyńska was left paralyzed after a car accident in 2006 but this never stopped her pursing her dream. Music. It's not the best song in the competition, but I always feel a tad emotional when I hear In The Name Of Love. It has depth. The official video-clip shows Monika before the accident performing and it's very beautiful. For me, Poland has the best message this year. Life may be tough but if you want something so bad, then you can and will achieve it. Monika proves this by representing Poland with this stunning ballad. Fantastic! 8/10

Jess: Monika has a lovely voice and the song is pretty amazing. I think it suits Monika's voice perfectly! 8/10

John: Leaving aside the fact that the last 30 seconds or so is quite repetitive, Poland's offering this year is a very good ballad "In The Name Of Love". Strong on melody, orchestration and vocal delivery, I reckon the Poles are a safe bet for qualification almost as safe a bet for a top 15 finish. Good luck Monika. 7/10

OUR VERDICT - 36/50
OVERALL SCORE - 7.2/10

MONIKA KUSZYŃSKA TO REPRESENT POLAND!

Did anyone expect this? It's not Doda after all, but Monika Kuszyńska... Here's the song she will take to Vienna!

Monika was partially paralysed in 2006 due to a car accident but that never stopped her pursing her dream. She says:
Through all my artistic efforts I try to link two worlds that up until recently seemed impossible to combine World of people with and without disabilities. Bridge of understanding between those two becomes stronger and stronger each year. I strongly believe that some day borders separating those worlds will disappear forever. This year Eurovision Song Contest motto is Building Bridges and it fits perfectly the idea I convey through my song. The contest's phrase also inspired me to write lyrics to In The Name Of Love. Because in the name of love we are able to overcome every barrier, aren't we?

Poland: Edyta Górniak wanted to return, but TVP said no...

Poland's song is going to be revealed on 9th March and many names are rumoured such as Sylwia Grzeszczak and Doda but we can now rule one name out for sure. Edyta Górniak. The first ever Polish representative sent a song into TVP which would have been perfect for Eurovision (according to her) however the broadcaster said they already have selected someone. This song will be included on Edyta's new album. And she doesn't rule out the possibility of flying the Polish flag in the future. One year she will be back!

Poland: Entry to be revealed on 9th March!

The Polish entry for Vienna is going to be released on 9th March. The announcement will be made at TVP headquarters. Doda has been tipped to represent the country with Riotka... will she be the chosen one?

Poland: Doda asked to do Eurovision!

Doda has been asked by the Polish broadcaster, TVP, to represent the country in Vienna. Wow! This is very exciting. Doda is interested in this proposal however a final decision is yet to be taken. Will we see her fly the Polish flag in Eurovision? An announcement isn't expected until March. In the meantime, enjoy her new single here. It's worth mentioning an English version is expected to be released soon.

Poland: Doda to be internally selected?

Doda na Eurowizję (Doda for Eurovision) is a fanpage on Facebook and they managed to reach 10,000 likes the other day. This did not go unnoticed by the popular Polish singer because she posted a photograph from the page so could this mean she's considering participation? She has previously been referred to as The Polish Britney Spears. Regarding Poland's performance in Eurovision 2014, Doda said in an interview that she was really emotional when watching Cleo on stage. It's also worth mentioning that she won Dziennik-eurowizyjny's poll with 38.3% of the vote when they asked their readers to name their dream participant for Poland. This blogger feels she would be great for Eurovision. Since Donatan & Cleo achieved 14th, interest in Eurovision has grown significantly in Poland. Another fan favourite, Margaret, already said she wouldn't enter Eurovision this year because she doesn't feel ready and has other projects. Apparently Cleo is interested in representing her country again but not in 2015, it's too soon. An announcement from TVP is expected in early March. In the meantime, enjoy Doda's latest single here - it was released on New Year's Eve!

NuVidz: Mariya Yaremchuk, Sergey Lazarev, Lidia Kopania, Modà feat. Emma!

Mariya Yaremchuk has ditched her hamster wheel and released a song which translates to Against The Wind. Mariya wrote the song when she was only 12 years old. It's very beautiful and it makes me wish Ukraine didn't withdraw... Sergey Lazarev is tipped to represent Russia next year with the song Breaking Away. Apparently, he was going to fly the Russian flag last year but pulled out last minute. Would he be a good choice? Lazarev is one of Russia's biggest stars at the moment. Meanwhile, the beautiful Lidia Kopania has released a new song. Pod słowami is a decent song with a fantastic video-clip to match. And the last song I'll share before Christmas is Come in un film by Modà and Emma Marrone. A fabulous song from these Italian superstars :-)

Poland: TVP ask EBU to lower their participation fee!

Poland's participation in Vienna is not confirmed yet, however it is likely we'll see a Polish representative in Vienna. TVP, the national broadcaster, will participate but only if the EBU will lower their transmission fee. Wirtualnemedia.pl reports the news that negotiations are coming to an end..

Note - Albania, Russia and San Marino will reveal their plans very soon.

NuVidz: Catarina Pereira, Edyta Gorniak, Giusy Ferreri, Céline Dion feat. Ne-Yo!

Catarina Pereira controversially came 2nd in the Portuguese national final with "Mea Culpa" and she's recently released an official video-clip. It's a shame she never got to represent Portugal in Copenhagen - I loved Suzy but I think Catarina would've qualified. Your High is Edyta Gorniak's latest single. It's a pleasant song with R&B elements. Edyta's fantastic and this is just another great song from the Polish singer! Giusy Ferreri is one of my favourite Italian artists. She only came 9th in Sanremo but this hasn't stopped the lovely Giusy! She's recently released La bevanda ha un retrogusto amaro. It has a strong rock vibe - the video-clip itself was directed by Luca Tartaglia. I'd love to see her represent Italy next year! Céline Dion has teamed up with rapper Ne-Yo to create Incredible. It's a feel-good pop song, which was written by Ne-Yo. The official video has only been on YouTube for 4 days yet it has almost 1 million views. Very impressive!

Poland: British televote ranked Poland first!

It has been revealed that the British (and Irish) public's favourite entry of Eurovision 2014 was Poland! The Polish performance was one of the most memorable this year, to say the least, and it the Brits loved it. However, because of the jury system (who ranked Poland last) the United Kingdom didn't actually award any points to Poland... is it right that five people have this much influence on the final result? It's sparked a lot of debate. Donatan & Cleo were the first Polish representatives to qualify since 2008 - they came 14th, with 62 points. Poland would have come 5th overall if there was no jury vote.  The British commentator, Graham Norton, said this before the Polish performance:
"If granddad has fallen asleep you might want to wake him. I've a feeling he will enjoy this."

Introducing 2014: Poland!

Poland returned, after a two year break, and decided to select their representative internally. Donatan and Cleo were confirmed as the Polish representative on 20th February with the song My Słowianie - We Are Slavic. The song is a massive hit in Poland - and even peaked at #2 in the Polish Airplay Charts. The original version of this song has clocked over 40 million views. The video-clip itself has caused controversy. The BBC even published an article, as the music video mocks Slavic stereotypes.

Donatan is a famous rapper and music producer in Poland and Cleo is a singer, who took part in the Polish version of X Factor. She's been working with Donatan since last year - and they have recently released a new song, entitled Cicha Woda. It was released two days ago and has received almost 2 million views... very impressive, indeed! I really want Poland to qualify.. Poland haven't qualified for six years, and it's about time we saw them in the final. I hope the juries won't ruin their chances - like they did "Igranka" last year.

NuVidz: Tolmachevy Sisters, Sanna Nielsen, Donatan & Cleo, Adel Tawil!

The Tolmachevy Sisters have released the official video-clip of Shine. The video-clip has a black and white theme throughout... Me likes! There has also been a slight revamp. Sanna Nielsen is one of the favourites to win ESC 2014' and today we finally got to see the official music video of Undo. I'm slightly disappointed with this video, I feel no emotion. But the song is great - and that's the most important thing! Donatan and Cleo have also released a new music video, too! However this video-clip isn't their Eurovision entry - just a new single. Watch that here. Adel Tawil is a well-known singer in Germany. I've only discovered his music recently although I'm already a fan. His latest single is Weinen. Enjoy!

Poland: Donatan & Cleo selected for Eurovision!

Donatan & Cleo have been confirmed as the Polish representatives. It's no surprises as Donatan said they were in talks with TVP last week. And they've been asking their Facebook fans what language they sing in Polish or English.

Well it seems a special bilingual version will be used in the contest. The song in question has had over 38 million hits on YouTube and is already a massive domestic hit in Poland. Many fans, including myself, see Poland making the top ten with no problems. This song is awesome! Warsaw 2015? It's also been confirmed that Donatan won't be present on stage.. so Cleo will have five backing dancers. Enjoy the live version here.

Poland: Representative to be announced tomorrow?

Apparently the Polish entrant is going to be revealed tomorrow. Will it be Donatan and Cleo? Hopefully! They have been asking their fans on Facebook whether they should sing in Polish or English. Many people have said keep the Polish version :-)

Poland: Donatan and Cleo in talks with TVP!

Donatan has posted a photograph on this Facebook page where he said that talks have been underway with the Polish broadcaster regarding their participation in Eurovision.

Here's the Englush translation of what he said:
“We were invited by TVP to a mysterious meeting today and we we went. It seems you have written to TVP mass emails and letters asking (and asking) to send us to Eurovision. At the moment we do not know what to say … mixed feelings … I will sleep on it"
Fingers crossed this will be officially confirmed soon!

Poland: Donatan & Cleo selected with "Slavic Girls"?

It appears the duo Donatan & Cleo with have been selected internally for Eurovision - according to sources close to TVP, the national Polish broadcaster. The song they take to Copenhagen would be Slavic Girls! It's brilliant! The English version was actually released this morning..

The original version, in Polish, has clocked over 37 million and is already a domestic hit over in Poland. No confirmation from TVP yet but hopefully they'll confirm this soon, fingers crossed! The BBC also did an article on the song in November, when it was released. I'm already reading "Warsaw 2015"-  let's just hope TVP confirm soon.

Poland: Edyta Górniak in talks with TVP?

Edyta Górniak, Poland's most successful representative, is reportedly in talks with TVP regarding a return to the competition. Nothing is official yet, I must stress that, but I've heard the Polish broadcaster are interested in Edyta making a return.

TVP haven't given any information or hints regarding their representative - although they have said an announcement is due in February and that the song itself will be selected internally. Edyta represented Poland 20 years ago, where she achieved a very respectable 2nd place. She is one of the best selling artists in Poland and has released 9 albums in total. I would love to see her back in Eurovision...
